What a Mind...

Here, T and Daddy put the new changing table pad (that I won in a Babies R Us raffle!) on the dresser.

Yesterday, I took Trenton to IKEA to exchange some stuff. We passed by Newark Airport and watched as the planes slipped into the cloudy sky. He was fascinated. Later, we drove to my grandmother's new nursing home to visit and eat lunch with her. A nice nurse there gave T a helium balloon. After reminding him to hold onto it (what was I thinking!?), we left and, you guessed it, he let go of it and it floated away. He was SO SAD. Real tears, you know? "Mommy! Get it!"... I wish I could have jumped high enough to do so :(

Anyway, when we got in the car, after he had calmed down, he said to me, "Mommy, can you get an airplane and go way, way up into the sky and get my balloon?" I explained to him that, when you are in an airplane, the windows do not open and I wouldn't be able to get his balloon. After a minute, he says "Mommy, can you go on a monster ride (referring to the roller coaster at the boardwalk) and get my balloon? High, high, high?" After laughing a bit, I told him that the ride wouldn't be high enough and that his balloon was way, way up in the sky by now. Thinking about it some more, he says "Mom. Get a hot air balloon! Get a hot air balloon and get my balloon!" Freaking genius! Poor kid... my response was "Honey, you're right, that would go high enough and I could reach out of the window to get your balloon, but I don't have a hot air balloon!"

Problem was solved when we went to Chick-Fil-A for dinner. They give out free balloons there ;) The thing still has enough helium in it today to give him some playtime with it.

How sad...but I am happy that Trenton got a new balloon.

Maya has let her balloon go many times. If you go to TJ, they give out free ones.
