First Haircut

Well, we decided it was time.

Jungle of Fun!

Trenton has been fooling me with his nap schedule lately. Whereas he used to nap for about an hour in the morning, now he wants to go down for two hours. And the afternoon-- used to be a nice two hour break for me. Now he will only sleep for about 45 mintues!

How cute does he look here?! He was sleeping with me this morning, and I quick got the camera before he woke up.

Anyway, we had to set the alarm this morning to make sure we were up in time for our playdate at 10:30. But, of course, it only helped a little. On our way out the door, we had sudden spit-up, requiring us to go back in and change the outfit. Then we went to the wrong place! That was horrible, especially because we paid the $5 admission, only to walk in and find out the MOMs Group was not there.... but after a quick phone call to Daddy to find out the right directions, we were all set.

Man was it worth it, too! Trenton absolutely had a blast at Jungle of Fun. I liked the place, too. Everyone took shoes off, parents were keeping up with their children, and I was informed that the entire place is wiped down every night. There was lots for toddlers to do, too. Trenton really liked licking the plates in the play kitchen!

You can see his nice little bruise he has on his forehead. He found out how to open the entertainment center the other day! Let's hope it goes away by the time he gets his pictures done this week!

Grandpa, Johnny Cash, and Vitamins...

We celebrated Thanksgivinig again this weekend at the Lacinas' home in North Brunswick. Trenton showed off his crawling skills (up on all fours now!) .

In this picture, he was gearing up for a nap. However, he is totally into the Bose radio that Grandpa has in the kitchen. And Grandpa is totally into Johnny Cash! Trenton is clutching one of his favorite toys-- a vitamin bottle. He loves to shake it when he is dancing to music. I was able to get this picture just as he was falling asleep...

Thanksgiving Day 2006

Ahh! Turkey Day at last! We began our celebration of this fine fall holiday on Wednesday, when we drove up to the Konopack home in Hunterdon County. The weather was wonderful and Trenton was very excited to see some different toys ;) Jason had flown in from Cincinnatti on Tuesday-- the last time he saw Trenton was when he was three months old! Of course, Trenton enjoyed being the center of attention. Mom made a wonderful dinner (Jay made the sweet potatoes) and Grandma Wilson and the George Family joined in the festivities. Yes, Trenton did get to eat some very small bits of turkey. He loved it!

Becoming a Big Boy

Trenton had quite the day today. Lots of new things going on-- I can only imagine what goes on inside his little mind. Luckily, he trusts me to take him places and do things with him, without much complaining.

Today, we went to the pediatricians office for his flu shot. Turns out, the shot is given in a two part dose. So, he only got the first one today. He weighed in at 21 lbs., 4 oz. and measured 28 inches long! You can see how inquisitive he was on the table, as the nurse carefully took his dimensions. He didn't even cry when the shot was given. I was distracting him with a toy, and both the doctor and I were surprised at his non-reaction!

When we came home, we checked the mail, and Trenton had received a Thanksgiving card from Grandma Lacina! Like everything else nowadays, it found its way into his mouth. :)

Finally, we went pre-Thanksgiving grocery shopping, and I picked up some organic wheat "o" shaped cereal for him. I was hesitant to use real Cheerios, knowing that the sugar content is kinda high. Plus, I like to buy organic for him when I can. There is a definite taste difference (less sugary, more 'puffy' tasting), but he won't know it. He really enjoyed picking them up and mashing them around in his mouth between his teeth and his gums. I am really glad to have found another grain that he enjoys.

Pre- Holiday Shopping

On Sunday, we travelled to Grandma and Grandpa Konopack's home. Trenton was a very good boy in church, and really enjoyed watching the handbell choir perform. Grandma had bought lots of new outfits for Trenton to try out and wear during his upcoming photo shoot at The Picture People. Grandma took lots of pictures for the December page of her upcoming calendar. As you can see, he got a kick out of eating a Santa toy-- that used to be his dad's! The final picture shows two Konopacks in flannel shirts :)

This Saturday, we went to the American Baby Faire at the Expo Center in Edision. Grandma Lacina met us there, and we had a wonderful time trying out all the toys, checking out new products, and getting free samples. There were lots of kids there Trenton's age, as well as many expectant mothers. Trenton competed in the Huggies Baby Race (he did not crawl at all, but still came in third place!). Afterwards, we enjoyed a pre-Thanksgiving dinner with Uncle Lenny and Great Grandma Lacina, as we would not see them on Thanksgiving Day.

Playing in T's Room

Just Mommy and T today, hanging out in his bedroom. I had to get the camera out and take some pictures. The lighting was really good. I hear that today is the last day of our unseasonably warm weather--- I really should have taken these pictures outside!

Anyway, there is one shot here of Trenton as he is spitting up! I just had to include it, as it is such a routine part of his day. My dad has recently helped us out (again!) by putting up our new closet doors. Trenton absolutely loves looking at himself in the mirrors. I've tried to capture some of that, but it is hard because I need to turn the flash off. And finally, this kid can dance! I don't know where he picked it up from, but he finds the need to boogie every time he hears some music. He made his Lil' Leap play the alphabet song, and he started dancing away! Picture this-- head swaying (like saying 'no'), then changing to a bopping motion.... body going up and down. He cracks me up! I took some video, but I'm not sure how to get it up anywhere. So that is my next ambitious project.

Halloween

Trenton was a cowboy for his first Halloween. What started out as a crazy looking cowboy outfit, bought by Grandma Lacina at the Cracker Barrel, intended to be worn as pajamas, turned into a pretty good costume! Trenton participated in the Barnes and Noble Halloween parade and brightened many-a-senior's day at the Howell Senior Center as part of a MOMS Club event. Together we went to the Freehold Raceway Mall during the day and trick-or-treated from store to store. T helped pass out pretzles to the few trick-or-treaters we got, too. All in all, he really enjoyed it. He even kept the hat on!

First Camping Trip

In mid-September, we decided to take a camping trip with the family to the Pine Barrens region of New Jersey.

We stayed at Bass River State Park and took a day trip to visit the historic Batsto Vilage. That's a frog in Jim's closed hand, by the way.

Trenton was the absolute center of attention. We think he liked it though!

My Boys

Okay, so they do look alike. A little bit ;) This morning, they looked a WHOLE lot alike! Taken in September of '06.

First Food

Ahh, the first food. It was mid-August, and he was probably about 5 and a half months old. Trenton began with white rice cereal from Gerber. He loved it! We gave him this, and then some organic brown rice cereal, for about a week. We were living at my folk's home for the time, as our house closing was still up in the air. Once we got moved in and settled, we re-introduced food, and he didn't take too kindly to the rice cereal at all. Was it the consistancy? The iron fortification? Could it be a rice allergy? Not sure. But he hasn't had rice again since then. We're sticking to oatmeal for now.

Goodbye, Illinois

Trenton's first home. His birthplace! How sad to have to say goodbye to so many wonderful people. We will truly miss all of them, and hope that we can stay in touch over the years. Amanda and Wes threw us a going away party and these pictures are from that. Frist one is of us and Beth Koplinski and her son, Grant. The second is of past and present Stratton teachers: Jill, Wes, Randy, Amanda, Karen, me, Cindy, and Beth. What good times we had! Lots of memories, too. Thanks for all of your support during our time in Champaign. We've made wonderful memories.
