Seaside Heights Trip

On the way home from the zoo, I decided that the day was just TOO nice to go home.... so we got off the Parkway and headed on over to Seaside!

Trenton still ate handfuls of sand. But he was able to walk around on it a lot easier barefoot. He is playing with the sand toys that the Easter Bunny got him.

He saw the steering wheels in the arcade and just couldn't resist!

Popcorn Park Zoo

Today we went to the Popcorn Park Zoo in Lacey, NJ. This zoo is special, because it serves as a refuge for animals that can no longer survive in the wild alone. Many animals here were abandoned or injured. Trenton did NOT like the sound of the peacocks (I can't believe I didn't get a picture of them!)

These bears had a great time playing with each other! The lioness was really tame, chilling out in the shade. Temp was about 80 degrees... isn't that cool already for her?!

This is our new way to eat lunch--- we've used the portable booster seat so often, it is really working out great to keep it in the car all the time!

Our Backyard

Finally! Nice weather! We took advantage of it and played for a bit before dinner in the backyard. Plans are to build a patio/deck here this summer. Trenton loves finding rocks and sticks, as well as squishing ants.

Weekend Visitors-- Yay!

Mommy spent the the night elsewhere for the first time this weekend! Not sure T really noticed, though ;) He had a blast playing with Grandma and Grandpa Konopack.

Trying Out Cloth Diapering

How cute are these!?!? Shairna and I decided to give cloth diapers a try for a bit. She found this fantastic site, Jillian's Drawers, where for only $10, you can try out a half dozen of the leading brands and types of cloth diapers. They are so cool! We've got some Bum Genius ones, a Fuzzi Bunz, a Kissaluv, and a Happy Heiny's. (I cannot stand the apostrophe in that one!) So far, they've been catching the messes well. We've had only one time where he's leaked. The diaper he is modeling here is the Bum Genius One Size. You are supposed to be able to use it from birth on up.

I have been VERY happy with the way they feel, clean up, adjust, and look. I'm really excited to be cutting down on the number of disposable diapers we use each day. Also, it may save us $ in the long run (although they ain't cheap, and you have to do lots of laundry!). So, we get to try them out for three weeks, then send them back. Who knows! Maybe we'll make the switch, even for part time.

Who You Talkin' To?

This is why Verizon gives you a new phone for free every two years... ;) He absolutely loves it!!! However, he will rarely keep his ear near the receiver long enough to hold a conversation. Just too interested in the glowing buttons!

Going For a Wagon Ride

The Lacinas came over on Sunday. Trenton got to test out his new wagon. Do you think he liked it?

He pretty much dislikes anything unstable-- a swing, a wagon, squishy sand... They managed to go up our sidewalk and around the corner before he demanded to be taken OUT!

Let's hope he gets over these fears and can enjoy it in the future!

Politics and Play in the City

Today was just BEAUTIFUL. We decided to take a family trip into New York City.
Above, you see Trenton wearing his "Miso Handsome" shirt (thanks Gabe!). He got lots of comments on that one during our day!

We took the bus into the Port Authority and walked up to Central Park. The Heckscher Playground has recently been remodeled and is located on the south end. Trenton LOVED playing with the sand, chasing after balls, and laughing with other kids. We stayed for quite awhile at this park-- more and more people just kept coming! See the video for proof!

Above, Jim poses with T and Kodi. We haven't seen Kodi in a long time! He is now living in South Beach, Miami and recruiting models for his own agency (yeah, that's him in the link with JD's crew-- done with that gig). Kodi was in town for the week and we're lucky we got to meet up with him.

Barack Obama was a featured speaker at the National Action Network's annual convention. Being as it was free, and we were interested in hearing the senator, we headed on over to the Sheraton to show our support.

Yeah, we were really far back. You can see better coverage and a video here.

Cool part-- as we were leaving, Obama and Sharpton were leaving, too! In the above picture, you can see me and T at the bottom (click on the picture to enlarge). Barack is to the right of the guy in the grey hat. Below, T looks like he is touching the senator's head! Thanks for taking some great pictures, Daddy!

Green for Thought

Okay, so I tried to take video of T today with a bracelet on his head, but the camera batteries died before it could finalize. So you'll just have to imagine him shrugging his shoulders as the little bracelet sits on top of his blonde head, and as his hands reach up to get it, then clap as he laughs.

But I did want to share this article with you. Some really good stuff. Makes me think about what this world will be like when T is our age.

Penicillin? No No No!!!

This week has been crazy! I had just gotten over strep throat when Trenton started showing signs of it. We took him to the doctors on Tuesday and she perscribed some medication for him. He broke out in a rash the next day! We changed that one to a non-penicillin based medication, and it seems to have gotten worse! Back at the doctor's again today. Now we are off all strep med, and she's given him two shots to get rid of this rash. Three more oral doses of it, then we will see how else to proceed. He is pretty miserable and clingy. So we are staying in, watching TV, and cuddling a lot.

Easter '07

We spent Easter weekend with family in the Garden State! How nice!
On Saturday, our church had an organized egg hunt. Grandpa and Grandma Konopack brought Great Grandma Wilson to our home. We all went to the hunt and had a great lunch and dinner together. Above, you can see how hesitant T was of The Bunny. Below, he really caught on with the whole 'finding the egg' idea.

On Easter Sunday, we met up with the Lacina side of the family at Great Grandma Lacina's home. Trenton got lots of gifts from the Easter Bunny and family there! Below, the traditional Lacina egg hunt lives on! Danielle and Cassie did a great job of hiding the eggs. Billy, Chad, Johnny, and Trenton all got to find 'em.

Springtime for Toddler

Busy past few days.... Some of these pictures Daddy took in the bathtub. Ha! And this morning, I caught him reading books in his nook between the crib and the bookcase. He loves to pull down the books and read them. Gotcha!








My MOMS group hosted an egg hunt for the kids. Trenton was able to capture one egg. He got the lucky one, too-- inside was a plastic watch! That is probably the one prize he could play with and say!

Trenton had a blast helping Grandpa Lacina and Uncle Len put together his wagon. Grandpa taught him how to hide in the box (he loved that more than the wagon). I hope to use the wagon this summer on the beach!
