Trenton's First Birthday

We spent most of today playing with friends and reflecting on Trenton's first year. He opened a few more presents and went out to dinner with Mom and Dad.
We've decided to take a picture of him in this T-shirt each year. It will be neat to see him grow into it.

Trenton's friends from our weekly playdate came to our house today. Above, Trenton plays with Harrison. Below, Trenton and Jaden wave bye-bye at the cars.

In the afternoon, we invited more friends over! Trenton, Gabe, and Katie posed for this picture. Seems that looking out the door was really popular today.

Looking Back on that Birth Day

Trenton John Konopack. Born on February 27th, 2006 at 9:30 PM. You may have stayed in eight days past your due date, but when it was time to come out, you sure let us know in a hurry! You have been such a good boy since the moment you were born. A whole year has past and our awe for you grows each day. We love you so much and we are so glad our life now includes you.

Trenton's Cake

Trenton's First Birthday Party

Trenton celebrated his first birthday this weekend with a party at home. Grandma and Grandpa Konopack, Grandma and Grandpa Lacina, Uncle Len, Aunt Shairna, Uncle Chris, Justin, Jared, Marcus and Ethan were all invited.

Trenton received wonderful gifts from his caring family. Here he is opening a train set from Uncle Len and Aunt Liz!

The boys were entertained with lots of party games. We played Guess What It Is?, Pin the Tail on the Donkey, Bingo, and made Sand Art.

Together, Mommy and Aunt Shairna made a beautiful cake. Trenton enjoyed it, as well as this ice cream cake. Thank you everyone for coming and making this day so special.

Winter Party

The MOMs Club of Howell- West had the annual Winter Party this week. Trenton had a taste of chicken fingers and mac and cheese for the first time. His little friend, Megan, sat near him. She started dropping chicken on T's platter when she was done with it! It was really funny. Trenton got to play with the other kids, and mom had some much needed talk time with friends.

Gabe's Party

Today, Trenton went to his very first birthday party. We celebrated with Gabriel at Sawa!

Gabe was a wonderful host. His mommy Nicole and daddy Rodney decorated the room with balloons (much to T's delight) and offered us a fantastic meal.

Trenton ate salmon and scallops for the first time!
He really enjoyed watching the chefs, but was a little leary of the fire. Later, Trenton helped Gabe rip into some of his gifts. Not yet, boys!
Happy Birthday, Gabe!

Eatin' My Apple

Trenton is getting to be such a big boy now. Whenever I try to strap him into his carseat, he needs something to effectively distract him. Today, when I tried that with my apple, he surprised me by taking a chunck out of it! You should have seen his face when I took it away... he did one of those cry-without-breathing things for so long, I thought he'd turn blue! But I was able to feed him small pieces while driving. Did you know he can also whistle and say "clock" and "light", too?

Happy Valentine's Day!

What a Valentine's Day! We woke up to a snow and ice storm that had made for some very treacherous roads and beautiful trees. Jim's university cancelled classes, so we stayed in most of the day. Here are some pictures of the ice on the trees, one picture of the front of our home, and the entrance to our development.

The Next Mark Spitz?

Here it is! This picture was taken of Trenton and I back in December while we were attending class at the YMCA. It is a great picture-- very clear (fuzzy here because I had to shoot it with our digital camera). As far as I know, there is no online copy of the current issue :( The photographer and editor of the magazine asked for our permission to use it-- but we had no idea that it would be a full page! The caption in the water reads: "The Next Mark Spitz? Under the careful guidance of mom Sheryl, Trenton Konopack gets a taste of the life aquatic at the Freehold YMCA. The pair attends the center's Youth Aquatics Swim Class." Needless to say, we bought up all four copies from our local Barnes and Noble to share with family and friends!

Holy Hairdos, Batman!

So Jim had a little fun with Trenton's hair today.

He was able to get it to stand on end thanks to the static electricitiy generated from the bottom of the Elmo chair.

Trenton's hair is so fine, it can do amazing things!

Even mohawks in the bathtub!

IKEA Trip

Hello from IKEA, everyone!
Today we went to IKEA in Elizabeth to meet up with our friends Mina and Maya. They've recently moved to NJ from IL (Mina and I were in the Pre-Natal Aquatics Class there).
Maya is about a month younger than Trenton, but they sure look about the same height and weight. Trenton liked to pat her hair and blow raspberries with her.
IKEA is VERY kid friendly. There were places for the kids to play in both the showroom and the cafeteria. Here, T & M eat lunch while we watch the planes fly into Newark Airport (across the Turnpike). There were also lots of seagulls flying around near the window.
After IKEA, we took them to Toys R Us... very disappointing store! We thought there would be stuff for the kids to do there and play with. But it was just a really big Toys R Us, with lots of Babies R Us stuff there, too. But Trenton scored with a birthday gift and Maya found some new shoes. We had a great day with them, and hope to get together again soon!
