My First Yankee Game

T's first Yankee game! He was very excited and well behaved the whole time-- even took a 45 minute nap during the action!
It was a 1:05 game, probably sold out, and as we were getting off of the subway, we could hear the national anthem playing. By the time we were in our seats, the Yanks were losing 2-0! But nothing could prepare us for what would happen in the next two innings-- check out the box score!

T was a little put-off by all the cheering and had his hands over his ears often. By the third inning, he had decided that napping was an option (good thing there wasn't much action there!) We left after the seventh, which was nice, as we beat some of the rush back to the trains.

Above, a shot of the new Yankee Stadium... right over the wall of the current stadium.
The next few shots show you where our seats were... let's just say the top row isn't as bad as you'd think! There was an extra seat nearby so T got one to sit in. We had nice folks around us (a Met fan and a Boston fan-- what were they doing there?!) and T got a free give-away-- a Yankee old-school lunchbox! It was so neat, all metal and tinny-looking. On one side is a picture of the current stadium and on the back is what it looked like on the first opening day.

These pictures are a little out of order, as we stopped at Bryant Park on our way to the Bronx in the morning. What a nice place-- I don't think I've ever been there. Nestled just next to the NYPublic Library, they had lots of grassy room to run around as well as tables and benches to sit at and use. When I saw this carousel, I HAD to have T get on it! Too cute! I include video, as they were playing French children's music.

Above, a lady feeds the pigeons popcorn... crazy lady! She gave some to Trenton, too, and he was happy to throw it at them... but he still enjoys a good chase!

All in all, it was an exhausting day. Taking the train from Belmar to Long Branch and then onto Penn Station was almost 2 hours of travel... we then walked around before boarding the subway up to the game... way back was just as long. From 8AM to 8PM, we were going!!! Only rough parts were keeping T distracted and happy on the train. Both Jim and I said there is NO WAY we'd be doing this next summer with two kids... maybe the summer after that!
