My First Yankee Experience

Jim's coworker had vouchers for Yankee tickets on an available seating basis for any Monday through Thursday game. The plan was to drive into Hoboken, park, get lunch, take the trains to the Bronx, and see the game. Sadly, this didn't all come true!
We did get a great parking spot right near this park. After an hour of driving, T was eager to let off some steam. And the weather was gorgeous!

We left the park and headed over to Washington St. for lunch at La Isla. It's a great Cuban restaurant that I've eaten at once before (with Kim) and Jim was jazzed about going. Thank goodness for the fold up stroller-- it was a tight squeeze inside. Trenton kept himself entertained by looking at the desert case while we waited for our meals. We shared baked chicken with rice and beans and a spanish omlette with spinach, cheese, and plantains. Really good stuff.
So then we were off to the Yankee game, right? Took the PATH to the subway to the Bronx. We got there about 15 minutes beforehand... not enough time to get tickets! Jim had tried to get us there early, but somehow, we still missed out. The only ones left were in the $78 section-- a little out of our range. We decided to set up camp at a bar across the street while Trenton napped. Don't ask me how-- it was loud in there. When he woke up, we took some pictures (that is the stadium and subway stairs behind them). So there is proof!

After realizing that we weren't having too great of a time hanging out in the Bronx, we put in a call to our stand-by-NYC-pal, Kevin! And wouldn't you know it, he and Craig were headed into Manhattan to meet up with a friend for lunch in the park. Too cool! So we met them over there. In these pictures, you see Trenton near a fabulous fountain. He thought he was entitled to all the statue had to give: water, leaves, pennies on the bottom.... and what did he get? Bird poop! On his hand! Niiiice one, buddy ;)

On the left is Steph, Craig, and Kevin. They had a fantastic picnic lunch all set for today---the weather certainly helped the entire outing! T stole a few chips in between playing and chasing squirrels.

Once in Central Park, we met an entertainer named "Lenny Hoops". He was set up near the playground and had musical instruments for the kids to play with and hula hoops to dance with. Lenny kept a great beat (check out the video). We then walked from the park to the PATH on 33rd St. (about 30 blocks-- and through Times Square) and took the PATH back to Hoboken. After eating dinner at La Isla again (this time Cubano sandwiches!) we headed over to the park again for a bit, and then finally drove home.
