Our Last Game at Shea

Amanda and Wes scored some pretty sweet tickets for us to attend the game at Shea. We got there early enough to catch the end of batting practice. Above and below you can see angles of the new Citi Field. It is so close to Shea, seriously... they built it on top of most of the parking lot. Should be ready for next season.

You gotta love Shea because it is where the Mets play. But other than that, I think most people are eager to try out the new stadium. It sure looks nice. There it is, off in the distance, from our seats inside Shea. Right behind home plate!

The Mets were playing the Diamondbacks that night and got off to a fantastic start. But, seeing as they are the Mets, there had to be SOME drama.... I took this pic of the home run apple prior to the beginning of the game, just in case it was the LAST time I'd see this thing up. Will they move it to Citi Field? I signed this petition some time ago, along with a lot of other wistful fans... let's hope that they listen!

Aww, little Met fan's first game... in utero!

Look at that! David Wright hit a home run early in the game.... I got the camera out and took this pic just in time. Good job, David!

So Amanda says that pregnant women should not eat soft serve. Tell that to the Carvel lady. I just HAD to have some. I mean, you get a souvenir cup! Had to bring that home to T, right? ;)

After like the 6th inning, winds started to pick up. It is hard to tell from above, but there was so much trash blowing around, they had to stop the game and cover the field.

And then wouldn't you know it, the rains came. Delayed the game over an hour with a tied score. So we had to stay. Unfortunately, they lots BIG TIME after the game resumed. Terrible pitching. Arugh....
