A Gorgeous Saturday Out

We started out our family day together at Monmouth Battlefield State Park. This park is huge, well preserved, and ripe for exploring. Recently, there has been talk about closing this park along with eight others in the state to save $4 million on the state budget. I actually wrote a letter to our state's DEP commissioner over my concerns about this. Let's hope this park stays open-- it is close to home and has lots of trails for both bikes and running.

Can you imagine the historic Revolutionary War battles that took place right behind us? This is Molly Pitcher territory!

We went off the main trail and discovered all these dirt trails in the woods nearby.

Chasin' after our 'runner'...

After lunch and before naptime, we went to Jenkinson's Amusement Park on the boardwalk in Pt. Pleasant. I had bought tickets online during their two for one sale and needed to pick them up. The weather was beautiful there. Trenton refused to go on any rides that I could not do with him... so we did the giant trucks and the train. I think it may take a few times to re-warm up to them. We did have a coupon for a free lemonade with purchase of a pretzel. The pretzel was HUGE! Here he is, enjoying some. On the ride home, he fell asleep with his finger through a piece and in his mouth. Wish I got a picture of THAT!
