Summer Begins at the Jersey Shore

Happy Summer!
There is no way to better kick off summer than to head out to the shore.... and that was NOT in the plan for us this Memorial Day weekend! Jim and his dad were traveling to Maine so that he could run a race there. I decided to convince my parents to take the coach and go camping at a local state park. But on Friday morning, with the weather looking as fantastic as it did, we knew we HAD to squeeze in a quick trip to the beach before heading our separate ways. So off to Avon we went.

It was one of those 'bring a jacket' mornings that inevitably turns warmer as the sun keeps rising. Trenton knows how to look "cool" with his hands in the pockets of his jacket. Too cute!

The lifeguard stands are usually pulled back or tipped over if there are no lifeguards on duty. Probably to prevent against this ;) But it was super-cool to get these shots of T and Daddy climbing and perching atop the lifeguard chair. Look at that blue sky--- you CANNOT make this stuff up!

Of course, the highlight for Trenton was watching the beachcomber tractor ride by. That thing somehow scoops up all the little crushed shells and eats them or something. A good thing, as the nor 'easter that blew through here last week left a lot of them. The rest of the weekend had temps in the 70s and 80s and plenty of people flocked to the shore for a quick get-away.

T also discovered that crushing sand castles with your feet can be a lot of fun. Better than throwing it, that's for sure...

You can bet we'll be back soon!
