Camping Trip, Memorial Day Weekend 2008

Camping Trip Memorial Day 2008-- To Stephen's State Park. Located in Hackettstown, this beautiful, small park may actually be closed down soon thanks to budgetary constraints (let's hope not!) We took my parents' coach camper and barely made it through the narrow front gates.

PopPop was overjoyed to be able to take Trenton fishing. Above, they search for worms. Below, he shows T how to bait the hook on his new Superman fishing pole.

First cast! Being patient...

And, no fish. But T was still happy. Later on Saturday, Len and Tiffanie came by for a visit. Tiffanie has a new car! Sweet!

The caterpillars were INSANE at the park. Seriously, they were everywhere. The area had NOT been sprayed for gypsy moths, and it showed. Poor trees had massive nests created in their branches. They will die soon. So many caterpillars, the birds can't keep up fast enough.

Dad got two rainbow trout the first day and one the second. We enjoyed them all fresh off the grill for dinner on Sunday night. Delicious!

It was the first time Trenton ever had s'mores... and Tiffanie! Trenton did NOT sleep well that night. I think after eating marshmallows and s'mores and fruit salad, he had a bit of a tummy ache. Also, I think he's finally outgrown his sleep sack (sob!) and wants the room to move around more when he's sleeping. Getting to be a big boy-- lots of firsts!

Day two of Trenton fishing. Different spot, still no fish.

Dad decked out in fly fishing gear. He really enjoyed the weather, awesome location, and outdoor time.

Grandma Konopack came by for a visit and lunch on Sunday. It is so nice to have both sets of grandparents who love to camp!

The grand finale of the weekend was the Hackettstown Memorial Day Parade. Although he at first told us he didn't want to go, once they started throwing candy our way, that all changed!

Yes, it was early. Yes, he had too much candy. No, I did not remember to brush his teeth after it ;) But he did eat an apple!
