Woo hoo! What a gorgeous day for Homecoming! The parking lots were packed, the beer was flowing, the people were there, and the festivities were hopping. We met up with Kim and Ali and had a great time walking down memory lane. There were tours offered (on golf carts-- yesss!) and our guide was very helpful and informative. Below, we sit in front of a new fountain in the business/science area of campus. Very nice.
Below is the "Alumni Grove" where the bricks are laid. It is in front of the Commons (now called Eickoff Hall) and in back of the new library. The sidewalk in both pics below is the same.
Ahh, the new library. The jewel in the crown! State of the art, worth every penny. Absolutely beautiful. I think back to my days of handwriting first drafts of papers in the old Roscoe West Library... few windows, old furniture, dank atmosphere... these students don't know how lucky they have it.
There was an extensive section of children's books and materials. Trenton got to read a very old picture dictionary as he ate his snack.
Kim got a little crazy. Can't help it when you realize how nice this place is! Second most competitive school in the state-- next to Princeton. Rutgers, eat your heart out!
Jumpa Jumpa! That's what we called this blow-up thing. Last time he was on it he was still too little to hold his balance very well. This time he was able to jump right along with the big kids!
Trenton was very excited to be allowed to go on the giant slide. He understood that you had to climb up the steps and did so gingerly...
These are pictures of the new chapel on campus. It stands further away from where the old one was and closer to the residence halls. The old one looked a lot like Captain John Smith's hat with a stained glass window panel on the front-- and it was so small it could only seat a few dozen people. This new one is nice; fits in with the other buildings around it. Inside there are two small meeting rooms, a large office, and a larger meeting/chapel room. The sanctuary would probably seat about 60 or so people, which is a little disappointing, considering that there are usually over a hundred celebrants at the Catholic mass every week (so it must still be held in TW).
Trenton was wayyy overdue for a nap and did not want to leave the chapel. I convinced him to come outside and collect some leaves ;) We tried to get up to Wolfe 10 to see if the mural we painted in '01 was still there but due to ridiculous security regulations, we could not. Humph. Overall, we had a great time. Very nostalgic. We'll have to do it again in the future with more friends!
