Spring Trip to VA/DC

Jim had his annual SBM conference in Washington, D.C. this year. So, we decided to make a family vacation out of it. The Bluesteens were our generous hosts. We got to see lots of friends who live in the DC area and we have the pictures to prove it!
I took Trenton and Marcus to Chuck E. Cheese on Thursday, where we met up with Rachel and Ethan. Rachel was in my pre-natal aerobic swim class when we lived in Champaign and has since moved to Virginia. Her son Ethan has gotten so big! The two of them enjoyed playing on the rides, although Trenton was totally freaked out whenever they started moving (but that saved some tokens for Marcus!)

On Friday, Trenton and I rode the Metro into the city to meet up with Jim during a break in his conference. We were able to walk to the zoo and got to see the bears and pandas before it started to rain.

We ate lunch at a great Indian restaurant.
My friend Cathy joined us for lunch. Do we look like Jersey girls or what?

We also met up with Jim's friends from Cornell, Evan and Julia (Evan's wife Pam came later). It was great to see them again!

On Saturday, Shairna and Ethan came with us into the city to visit our friend Meg. We had lunch (Thai-- yummy!) and went to the zoo again. This time we saw the birds. Trenton loved that!

The final set of pictures shows Shairna and her family in their new home. Congratulations, homeowners! It is a gorgeous townhome in the same VA suburb they are currently living in. We are very excited to see what the place will look like once they have moved!

Wow, you really got to see a lot of friends! Baby Ethan grew a lot, Rachael looks good, I wouldn't have recognized her son. New townhouse looks fantastic. Grandma
